The VUBMUN team proudly represented Vrije Universiteit Brussel on the international stage at the National Model United Nations (NMUN) 2025 in New York City. NMUN is one of the world’s most renowned academic simulations of the United Nations, welcoming thousands of university students from around the globe.
This year, VUBMUN had the honour of representing the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea across four UN committees:
- General Assembly First Committee – Disarmament & International Security: Lara Butenaerts and Sam Singh
- General Assembly Second Committee – Economic & Financial: Kuura Aunola and Luka Rütze-Mulot
- General Assembly Third Committee – Social, Humanitarian & Cultural: Elias Salieh and Andreea Certan
- UN Environment Assembly: Zoélie Prickartz Lewkowicz and Nena Mgbokwere
In the iconic halls of the United Nations Headquarters, our delegation received the Outstanding Delegation Award, the highest distinction granted at NMUN. This prestigious recognition reflects our team’s commitment to excellence, especially while representing a diplomatically complex country.
This success would not have been possible without the hard work of our delegates, the guidance of board members Elias Sahlieh and Sam Singh, and the continued support of the wider VUBMUN team throughout the academic year.
We are proud to bring this award back to Brussels and to shine a light on Vrije Universiteit Brussel’s presence in global academic diplomacy.
Kind regards,
The 2024–2025 VUBMUN Delegation
